The Hip Hop World is mourning the loss of Nigerian-British rapper Ty who sadly passed away on Thursday after contracting pneumonia while recovering from coronavirus.
Ty was loved and respected in the U.K scene. His old-school style flow was perfectly complimented by his captivating voice and mature lyrics. He was part of the duo Shortee Blitz and MC Ty which was formed in ’95 and most recently put out a project as part of UK Rap trio Supergroup Kingdem alongside Rodney P and Blak Twang.

In 2004, his sophomore album, Upwards, was nominated amongst the likes of Amy Winehouse and The Streets for the Mercury Prize.
The sad news saw rap legends from all over the world including Posdnous (De La Soul) and DJ Ca$hmoney posting tributes online and there has been a Book of Memories set up on the kingdem website (Kingdem.co.uk).
There will be a Ty tribute mix By DJ Drez on Sundays Hip Hop Back In The Day show on Westside a show Ty once appeared on as a guest.
