Sean Price – R.I.P

Sean Price has tragically passed away. Our immediate thoughts go out to his family and friends.

The 43 year old Emcee of Heltah Skeltah, Boot Camp Clik and Random Axe fame, passed away in his Brooklyn apartment this Saturday 8th August.

The cause of his death is currently unknown, but it is reported he died in his sleep.

Price started off his career as ‘Ruck’, one half of the 90’s Brooklyn duo, Heltah Skeltah, with his partner in rhyme, Rock.

They both appeared on Smif-N-Wessun’s ‘Dah Shinin’ in 1995. A year later in 1996, they released their debut album ‘Nocturnal’. They are part of the ‘Boot Camp Clik’ too. Which includes the likes of Buckshot (Black Moon), Tek & Steele (Smif-N-Wessun) and others.

In recent years, Ruck has been using his own name, Sean Price, and has had a successful solo career. ‘Monkey Barz hit the streets in 2005, ‘Jesus Christ Supastar’ 2007, followed by his last project ‘Mic Tyson’ released in 2012.

The Hip-Hop back in the crew would like to send our condolences to the Price family.

Another brother has been taken away. He was a beast on the mic, and a standout Emcee in today’s era. I never had the opportunity to meet him, or see him live, but members from our crew state he had the ability to combine wit, passion and professionalism in his performances. Rest in rhymes….
